Unfortunately the Woodfest management committee sees no other option but to postpone our Woodfest 2021 event due to COVID restrictions.
At this stage we are planning to reschedule to April next year. Those of you that are entering the Woodfest Design Competition 2021 will have their entries entered for Woodfest 2022. Details of the program and the competition will come soon.
The design competition is going ahead and we are now accepting new entries. Whatever happens, the competition will happen on the new date. If COVID is still an issue in 2022 we will hold it online.

About
We are two groups of farm foresters in northern NSW (Subtropical Farm ForestryAssociation Inc.) and south-east Queensland (Specialty Timber Growers Inc.). We have come together to expand our knowledge and ability to manage our woodlots in a more productive and sustainable way. Many of us have planted rainforest cabinet timbers and seek outcomes which serve both our own purposes and that of the environment. We value the Australian landscape, storing carbon and working for the future.
Project
Growing rainforest cabinet timbers entails a complexity that forest managers with monoculture plantings have never had to deal with. Mixed species with varying growth rates have led us to the point where some of the fast-growing species are dominating the woodlot. The forest needs thinning in order to keep growing and it needs to keep growing to store carbon into the future. This project is about ensuring that this process is managed with credible science, good marketing and sensitive environmental management.
